STATE ASSESSMENTS
Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (2015), requires states to annually administer a single statewide English language proficiency (ELP) assessment to all English learners (ELs) enrolled in grades K-12. The primary purpose of this mandate is to ensure that all students graduate high school ready for college and career. To fulfill this requirement, Idaho districts administer ACCESS for ELLs (ACCESS) between January and March each year. Results are used to measure and monitor student progress, inform and enhance educator pedagogy, and ensure that a district’s language instruction educational program is proven effective in helping students overcome English language barriers.
Administered to potential English Learners (ELs) to determine eligibility for entrance into a district's Language Instruction Educational Program. Ongoing results
Idaho’s Reading Indicator (IRI) is administered to all K-3 public school students. IRI is an early reading screener and diagnostic assessment. The screener is mandatory for Idaho public school students in the Fall and Spring with optional winter administration. Progress monitoring is available to all students.

Important short screeners to quickly inform instructional practices, address gaps, and enhance learning throughout the school year.
Idaho mandates that students take the United States Citizenship Test per Idaho Code §33-1602.7. Students can take the test any time after enrolling in Grade 7 and can retake it until passing. Districts have the autonomy to select questions from the United States Citizenship Naturalization Test and determine formatting and passing scores. Testing is permitted from 7th to 12th grade.
Note: The instructions on the assessment by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, USCIS website, are not the rules for district administration, but for someone to become a U.S. Citizen, please disregard.
The state will not establish a defined test window for this assessment. We expect most students will take the assessment in their Junior or Senior year of high school, however, the law allows students to take the test any time after entering the 7th grade. The student may repeat the test as many times as is necessary in order to obtain a passing score.
ISAT inrterims are used periodically throughout the school year to help prepare students for the summative ISAT assessment.
Teacher use the interims as a formative assessment to determine areas that students need additional support in.
Istation monthly progress monitoring- Istation monthly ISIP is given in grade k-8 in the areas of Reading and Math. They give information on how the student is progressin the the two content areas compared to peers. Data is used for teachers to adjust instruction to meet the stuednts needs.
