JOB POSTING – SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER
START DATE: As soon as possible
Full-time with benefits
Wages per Certificated Salary Schedule
Monday through Thursday, with one Friday per month
Position is only for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must hold or be eligible for an Idaho teaching certificate
• Endorsement: Exceptional Child Generalist, K-8 or K-12
SUPERVISED BY: Special Education Director and Building Administrator
SUPERVISES:
• Students during the school day and at other activities as assigned
• Volunteers, student assistants, and/or others assigned to assist the teacher
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrates instructional skills by:
• Organizing a productive classroom
• Designing measurable and observable instructional objectives
• Implementing the district curriculum
• Designing lessons with logical and sequential content
• Teaching at the correct level of difficulty and complexity
• Using flexible classroom procedures
• Using motivation, retention, reinforcement, and transfer techniques
• Displaying a command of subject matter
• Establishing and clearly communicating acceptable parameters for student behavior
• Using appropriate evaluation activities
Demonstrates interpersonal skills by:
• Developing positive interpersonal relationships with students, parents, and staff
• Encouraging student independence and creativity
• Modeling a positive self-concept and attitude
Demonstrates professional responsibilities by:
• Developing and implementing professional and personal growth plans
• Participating in district and building in-services
• Supporting school and district regulations and policies
• Selecting appropriate channels for resolving concerns/problems
• Providing needed and requested information on a timely and effective basis
EVALUATION: To be conducted by the Special Education Director in accordance with the guidelines specified in the evaluation policy

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST
- Utilize assessment procedures, techniques, and standardized tests necessary for thorough and accurate identification of occupational therapy needs including: Fine motor delays, sensory needs, attention deficits, visual motor, etc. to students Pre-K through 12th grade.
- Plan and conduct teacher/parent conferences when needed.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary staff conferences (Child Study Teams).
- Formulate long-term goals and short-term instructional objectives to be included in a student's IEP: Total Service Plan and Instructional Implementation Plan.
- Familiarize principals, teachers, and other school personnel with occupational therapy plans.
- Submit reports to the Director of Special Services upon request.
- Inform parents and teachers of results of occupational therapy findings from evaluations.
- Provide direct therapy based on individual needs.
- Assist teacher in developing occupational therapy programs to be carried out in the classroom.
- Address community groups concerning occupational therapy disorders upon request.
- Assist parents in improving their skills in working with their child's occupational therapy delays.
