          April Newsletter

I hope you all had a restful break. The students are excited to be in the home stretch of second grade. In science, the students will be keeping a watchful eye on their plants which have already gotten buds. Next, we will  be starting a unit on animals. I have the students complete an animal habitat diorama during this time. Each student needs to bring in a large shoe box for this project. They will also be completing a report on the animal of their choice.

In math, we will be measuring using both standard and metric measurement as well as begin a unit on place value and decimals.

Now that Young Authors has come to a close, the students will work on different genres they have not completed. I am quite proud of all the students; they worked hard at refining their stories and getting them to the publication stage.

The last IRI will be soon, so have your child read out loud each night as quickly as they can to practice for this test. Have a safe and warm April!
